Court Security
Courthouse security is intended to keep all who do business before the Court safe. The Sheriff’s Offices in our Circuit take their roles and responsibilities seriously. Pursuant to Florida Statute 790.06, Sections 12 (a) (4) and (5), members of the public are prohibited from openly carrying or concealed carrying any firearm or weapon in a courthouse or courtroom. Furthermore, the following items are prohibited in our courthouses.
- Firearms or facsimile of any type
- Ammunition of any caliber
- Explosives
- Knives of any type/size
- Alcohol
- Tear gas, chemical gas or bug bombs
- Pepper spray
- Handcuff key
- Lighters
- Mace
- Metal picks
- Sharp point scissors
- Sling shot
- Stun gun
- Razors or box cutters
- Glass bottles (over 4 oz)
- Throwing stars
- Drugs
- Kubaton sticks of any kind
- Metal knuckles
- Billie club
Note: Court Security personnel may deem other items not listed as dangerous and bar entry or confiscate them as necessary.
