IN RE:ORDER APPOINTING SUBSTITUTE MEMBER OF SUWANNEE COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD
WHEREAS, Florida Statute 102.141 sets forth the requirements for service on the county canvassing board; and
WHEREAS, Suwannee County is holding a local option special election on August 16, 2011, which includes early voting from August 8, 2011 through August 13, 2011; and
WHEREAS, neither the chair nor any of the members of the Suwannee County Board of Commissioners is able to serve on the canvassing board on August 16, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statute 102.141(l)(d) authorizes the chief judge of the circuit to appoint a qualified substitute member; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. Kennon, Jr., is a qualified elector of Suwannee County who is not a candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed and who is not an active participant in the campaign or candidacy of any candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed; it is therefore
ORDERED that Thomas J. Kennon, Jr., is appointed as the substitute member of the Suwannee County Canvassing Board for the local option special election on August 16, 2011 and any other time relating to this special election during which the chair and members of the Suwannee County Board of Commissioners are unable to serve.
