WHEREAS, Florida Statute 102.141 sets forth the requirements for service on the county canvassing board; and

WHEREAS, Lafayette County is holding a local option special ejection on August 14,2012, which includes early voting from August 4, 2012 through August 11, 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Honorable Darren K. Jackson will be unable to serve on the Lafayette County Canvassing Board for the election scheduled for August 14, 2012 , due to the fact that he is a candidate with opposition in the said election; and

WHEREAS, Florida Statute 102.141(1)(d) authorizes the chief judge of the circuit to appoint a qualified substitute member; and

WHEREAS, Harlow H. Land, Jr., is a qualified elector of Lafayette County who is not a candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed and who is not an active participant in the campaign candidacy of any candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed; it is therefore

ORDERED that Harlow H. Land, Jr., is appointed as the substitute member of the Lafayette County Canvassing Board for the local option special election on August 14, 2012 and any other time relating to this special election.
